“Jesus Christ Superstar”
Directed by Susan Craig-Olsen
Performance Dates: June 28, 29, 30 and July 5, 6, 7 Ages: 14 and up Cost: $150

About: Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice wrote “Jesus Christ Superstar” as a “concept” album. It  later became a smash hit Broadway musical in 1971 and added a new dimension to musical theatre: the rock opera. It won five Tony Awards including best original score, which, for Lloyd Webber is an uncharacteristic blend of rock, heavy metal and theatrical pop that many grew up on in the 1970s. Rice’s interpretation of Jesus’ last days and Judas’ motives are somewhat unconventional, if not thought provoking. “Jesus Christ Superstar” offers a combination of powerful, unforgettable music and the wrenching emotion of the greatest story ever told.
