Piano Academy & Voice Lessons
The North Central College, Community Education Piano Academy provides piano and voice instruction for students ages 6 to 18. Students at any level, from beginning through advanced, are accepted for lessons. Faculty members are all experienced teachers and professional musicians with degrees, many with advanced degrees, in piano performance and pedagogy. The Piano Academy’s curriculum based on a comprehensive department syllabus which defines specific goals for each of the 10 levels of study in the areas of repertoire, technique, sight-playing, transposition, rhythm, aural skills and keyboard theory and harmony. Student progress in each of these areas is evaluated annually via spring performance auditions. Private instruction is offered for adults who wish to begin piano study for the first time as well as those with previous music fundamentals, theory, technique, repertoire and performance skills. North Central College, Community Education Voice lessons are available to anyone age 13 or older. The lessons stress techniques necessary for healthy singing. Breath control, vowel purity and good diction are emphasized. Students will study a variety of song literature and musical theatre, both American and foreign, and develop the background essential for artistic solo singing and performance.
