Exercise/Physical Actvty Wkshp
This interactive / educational workshop will introduce the American College of Sports Medicine principles of exercise prescription for health-related physical activity. Students will learn to compute their individual exercise heart rates and learn to structure an individualized exercise plan, that is safe, effective, and encompasses all of the health-related criteria of cardiorespiratory endurance, muscular strength, muscular endurance, flexibility, and body composition. Educational handouts will include the recent U.S. Health and Human Services 2020, Objectives and Recommendations for Life-Time Health. This workshop will include a basic one hour outdoor (weather permitting) fitness class incorporating principles covered within the initial presentation / lecture. Students should come dressed in comfortable fitness attire and appropriate shoes.
