Student musicians connect with high schools, university on spring tour

North Central College’s Concert Winds embarked on its spring tour April 15-18, conducting clinics, performing at high schools, a university, on campus.

North Central College’s Concert Winds ensemble, involving some 90 students, embarked on a spring concert tour in mid-April. The tour included performances and workshops at several local and Indiana high schools, a combined concert with Trine University’s Wind Ensemble in Angola, Ind., and a final performance on North Central’s campus.

Mouse receives award for his work as jazz drummer, educator

Jack Mouse, North Central College adjunct assistant professor of music, receives Aquarian Award of Achievement for contributions as jazz educator, performer.

Jack Mouse—North Central College adjunct assistant professor of music, coordinator of the jazz studies program and jazz drummer—received an Aquarian Award of Achievement, presented by Aquarian Drumheads in acknowledgement of Mouse’s contributions as a jazz educator and performer.

Founded in 1980 by famous drummer and clinician Roy Burns, Aquarian Drumheads is an international company with a number of innovative patented products and sells drumheads and other gear to artists around the world, including Chad Butler of Switchfoot and Rikki Rockett of Poison.

The exhibit is free and open to the public in the College’s Schoenherr Gallery at the Fine Arts Center, 171 E. Chicago Ave. An artist reception will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 5; complimentary refreshments will be served.

“Adventures in Wonderland” includes ceramics, paintings and mixed-media artwork created by seniors Molly Christine and Angela Block. The exhibit runs March 6 through March 31 in the Meiley-Swallow Hall Gallery, 31 S. Ellsworth St. An artist reception will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 30; complimentary refreshments will be served.

Studio art major Lauren Wohlrab ’14 is chosen by Paramount Theatre as its featured artist in the annual North Central College Aspiring Artist Student Exhibit.

Lauren Wohlrab ’14, a studio art and interactive media studies/graphic arts double major, was chosen by Paramount Theatre as its featured artist in the annual North Central College Aspiring Artist Student Exhibit. Her works will be on display from Feb. 1 through March 25 in the Grand Gallery at Paramount Theatre, 23 E. Galena Blvd., Aurora.

An opening reception will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1, at the gallery. Admission is free to the exhibit and reception with a cash bar.
