Naperville’s “9/11 Community Event: Remember, Release, Renew” invites people to come together to remember and honor those lost on 9/11/2001, to continue to release the pain and hurt, and to renew personal and community commitment to treat each other with respect, regardless of race, sex or religion—to build a “community of compassion.”

North Central anthropology student, Field Museum intern earns scholarship

North Central College anthropology student Amanda Marolf has been awarded the 2011 Gloria Levitt Scholarship for Anthropology.

Aug. 23, 2011—North Central College anthropology student Amanda Marolf of Naperville, who interns at The Field Museum in Chicago, has been awarded the College’s 2011 Gloria Levitt Scholarship for Anthropology.

Marolf, a junior, was awarded the $1,000 scholarship for her work in The Field Museum’s Anthropology Collections during the summer. She’ll continue her internship in the fall.

Forbes magazine rates North Central College among America’s Top Colleges

In its 2011 "America's Top Colleges" survey, Forbes says North Central College is among the best undergraduate institutions in the nation.

Aug. 18, 2011—Forbes magazine rates North Central College among “America’s Top Colleges.”

“Our annual list of America's best undergraduate institutions focuses on educational outcomes, not reputations,” Forbes writer Michael Noer says in the piece. “Our annual ranking of the 650 best undergraduate institutions focuses on the things that matter the most to students: quality of teaching, great career prospects, graduation rates and low levels of debt.”

North Central College showcases young talent Oct. 13 at Choral Invitational Festival

Vocal talents of local students are showcased at the annual Choral Invitational Festival at North Central College Oct. 13.

Vocal talents of local junior high and high school students, as well as North Central College’s choral ensembles, will be showcased Oct. 13 during the annual Choral Invitational Festival at North Central College.

Student groups performing during this year’s festival are Naperville’s Lincoln Junior High School Eighth Grade Chorus—under the direction of Ross Berkley—and the Rockford Christian Concert Choir. This is the first time a junior high ensemble has been invited to participate in the festival.

Stamos sits in with the band occasionally and his appearance with the group has been confirmed for these performances.
