North Central College MAEd alumnus named High School Principal of the Year

MAEd alumnus Brian Waterman has been named High School Principal of the Year by the West Cook Chapter of the Illinois Principals Association.

Brian Waterman, an alumnus of North Central College’s master of arts in education (MAEd) program, has been named High School Principal of the Year by the West Cook Chapter of the Illinois Principals Association.

Waterman began serving as principal of Lyons Township High School in LaGrange at the start of the 2014-2015 academic year. He earned his master’s degree in educational leadership at North Central College in 2004.

Two North Central College alumni pursuing careers in scientific fields will share advice about achieving admission to graduate school and other expertise during a talk on April 9.

The public is invited to meet and hear talks by Matt McCary ’10 and Michale “Shelly” Feaver ’98 Shaw at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 9, in North Central College’s Madden Theatre at the Fine Arts Center, 171 E. Chicago Ave. Admission is free.

North Central College’s WONC-FM 89.1 was awarded the Best Overall Radio Station in the nation and general manager John Madormo won Best Advisor in the nation.

It’s official: North Central College’s student-run radio station WONC-FM 89.1 is the best of the best. For the first time in its history, WONC was awarded the Abraham & Brost Award for Best Overall Radio Station in the nation at the March 7 Awards Ceremony at the 75th annual Intercollegiate Broadcasting System (IBS) International Conference in New York City.

North Central College alumnus Ryan J. Dowd ’00 gave a TEDx talk on “The Value of Moral Failure.”

North Central College alumnus Ryan J. Dowd ’00 delivered a TEDx talk about how individuals can discover their life’s purpose during times of moral failure.

Dowd was the first of 12 presenters Feb. 13 at the inaugural TEDxNorthCentralCollege event. Topics were inspired by the theme “Changing the World for Good.” The message of his talk, titled “The Value of Moral Failure,” was that regrettable moments can help people discover their mission.
