North Central College’s Storm Styles, a human resource management and psychology major, lands internship in human resources with Porsche at Lisle office.

North Central College student Storm Styles is interning in human resources at the Lisle, Ill., office of Porsche Business Services, a division of the company that makes the legendary sports car.

Styles, of Lemont, is a junior double-majoring in human resource management and psychology. Working primarily with three other members of the HR staff, her duties have included assisting with an internal newsletter, working with international interns from Germany and organizing staff events.

North Central College is honoring J. Charles Eldridge of Wake Forest, N.C., with a 2011 Outstanding Alumni Award.

North Central College artists Giuseppe Pellicano ’12, alumna Ali Urasky ’11 and Christine Rabenold, assistant professor of art and student art gallery director, are among 17 artists displaying artwork at the Prak-sis Gallery in an exhibition titled “Knockout.” The exhibit runs Nov. 4-18 in the gallery located at 1917 W. Irving Park Road, Chicago.

Ray Odom, a 1997 graduate of North Central College, has joined WRXQ-FM 100.7 as host of an evening show on the Coal City-based rock station.

Oct. 12, 2011—Ray Odom, a 1997 graduate of North Central College, has joined WRXQ-FM 100.7 as host of an evening show on the Coal City-based rock station.

Odom, better known as “Crazy Ray,” was featured on Chicagoland Radio and Media, which recounted Odom’s previous tenure as overnight host on “The Loop,” WLUP-FM 97.9.

Oct. 10, 2011—Lauren Visher, a 2007 alumna of North Central College, is featured in The Naperville Sun for her work with Naper Settlement.

Visher spoke about her work as part of The Sun’s “Five Questions” feature. She said as a young girl, she enjoyed volunteering at the Settlement and giving tours. She graduated from Naperville Central High School and majored in musical theatre at North Central.

She enjoys her work as special events coordinator at Naperville’s “living history museum.”

Herbie Hancock, the iconic jazz pianist and multiple Grammy Award-winner, will perform his eclectic take on modern music Oct. 29 in North Central College’s Wentz Concert Hall as part of the first solo tour of his legendary career.

Hancock is a powerful influence in acoustic and electronic jazz and R&B music. His career spans five decades, his recordings have earned 12 Grammy Awards and he continues to amaze audiences with his energetic live performances.

Schola Cantorum de Venezuela, the premier touring chorus of Latin America, will perform Oct. 26 in North Central College’s acoustically stunning Wentz Concert Hall.

Schola Cantorum de Venezuela is one of the most important choral societies to emerge as part of the growing choral movement in Latin America. The choir performs a broad range of works, and its repertoire includes works by Spanish, Italian, French and English Renaissance, contemporary Venezuelan and universal composers.
