In a dominating win against Wheaton College, 28-6, the Cardinal football team wins third straight Little Brass Bell, bid to nationals and share of CCIW crown.

In Saturday’s dominating 28-6 win against Wheaton College, the Cardinals won the Little Brass Bell for the third straight year, a bid to the NCAA championships, and clinched at least a share of the CCIW crown (the team has a final conference game Nov. 13). Some 700 student-athletes, coaches and faculty mentors met in the Res/Center Center Sept. 12 for North Central’s annual celebration, The Huddle, to kick off the new year. President Hal Wilde and Director of Athletics Jim Miller were the first to speak and reflected on last year’s successes and how to balance athletic and academic success. After the traditional NC Influence T-shirts were distributed and coaches and faculty mentors were introduced, guest speaker Sue Enquist addressed the enthusiastic crowd.

The Office of International Programs welcomes 41 new students who are part of a record 54 nonimmigrant international students enrolled at North Central College this fall. They come from 28 countries and include new first year and transfer students, returning students, eight graduate students, 16 new exchange students and five who are sponsored by the Global UGRAD program.

The defending national champion North Central College men’s cross country team heads into the 2010 season as the No. 2-ranked Division III team in the nation, according to the initial rankings released Sept. 1 by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). On Aug. 24, the USTFCCCA ranked the Cardinal team second in the Midwest Region in the preseason regional rankings.
