Surrounded by blueprints, hard hats and timetables, this alumnus, in tandem with a number of other North Central graduates, oversaw construction of a unique, one-of-a-kind building that will significantly impact North Central College and its track and field program for generations to come. The environmentally friendly, four-story building is the first in the nation to combine a residence hall with a recreation center on a college or university campus, built to the rigorous and innovative standards of “green” construction.

Innovation and responsiveness represent the hallmarks of North Central College’s graduate programs in education, including the master of arts degree in curriculum and instruction and master of arts degree in leadership and administration. The College has had a hand in grooming hundreds of leaders in education, who transition into department heads, assistant principals and principals, fulfilling a continuing demand for school leaders today.

New Degree Writes New Chapter to Literary Agent’s Life

Literary agent Jennifer Flannery M ’07 has represented top authors and discovered award-winning books for children and young adults, but she says those successes seem secondary to earning her master of arts in liberal studies (MALS) degree and becoming a mother to Hannah, now age 7.

“I’d always wanted a master’s degree but most importantly I wanted to show my daughter, in word and deed, the value of education,” Flannery says.
