North Central College began the 2013-2014 academic year Sept. 16 with a record number of students.

North Central College began the 2013-2014 academic year Sept. 16 with a record number of students.

Total enrollment stands at 3,048 undergraduate and graduate students, eclipsing the 3,000 mark for the second straight year. The College welcomed 852 new full-time undergraduate students. Enrollment this fall includes a record number of international students and increased representation of out-of-state students and veterans.

Robert Moussetis, North Central College professor of international programs, chair of the management and marketing department and coordinator of graduate business programs, was invited to contribute an essay to Volume One of the 2013 “Encyclopedia of Management Theory,” edited by Eric H. Kessller.

The May 17 inauguration of Troy D. Hammond as the 10th president of North Central College is part of a week that includes honors ceremonies, concerts and a fireworks display.

The inauguration occurs during Cornerstone Week, May 13-19, an annual celebration that commemorates the College’s 1870 move to Naperville from Plainfield and the laying of the cornerstone for Old Main. Some events will be webcast live. The week includes the following events:

North Central College on March 11 will host an information session about its master of business administration (MBA) and master of international business administration (MIBA) graduate programs.

Registration begins at 5:45 p.m. Monday, March 11, in the third-floor conference area of the Residence Hall/Recreation Center, 440 S. Brainard St. Participants will have the opportunity to meet faculty, discuss the curriculum, speak with current students about study abroad opportunities, and learn about the admission process and financial aid.

Two North Central College students have developed a mobile app for friends to share pictures of food they like.

Two North Central College students have developed a mobile app for friends to share pictures of food they like.

Entrepreneurs Jeremy Markham ’15 and Kyler Juckins ’15 are the creators of DinnDinn, a smart phone app for food lovers. DinnDinn works like a virtual refrigerator. Users upload photos of food, drinks and other items to their page and rate them. Their friends and followers, known as “taste buds,” can comment on the posts.

North Central College graduate students traveled to Greece during D-Term on a study abroad course dedicated exclusively for them. Thirteen students from various graduate programs embarked on a 3-credit course designed to advance their studies, careers and personal exploration outside the classroom. In particular, they gained an understanding of Greek history, economics, politics and culture as they relate to the region.

Vincent Macciocchi M ’94 was recently appointed chief operating officer of Wild Flavors, Inc. He holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Eastern Illinois University and an M.B.A. from North Central.

Daniel Newman M ’09

Daniel Newman M’09 recently published a book titled “Millennial CEO,” (Marie Street Press) which chronicles his rise to a CEO position as a former college athlete and part-time DJ, facing an uncertain future. Newman’s stories and perceptions provide insight into the true potential of Generation Y. He is co-founder and CEO of EOS and EC3, two quickly growing hosted IT service providers. He is also executive vice president of TMD, EOS’ parent organization and a national distributor for Cisco Systems and is responsible for the company’s strategy and business development activities.

Graduates of North Central College earn more income over their lifetimes than peers who graduate from most comparable schools, a new survey finds.

North Central College ranks among the top 15 percent of private, nonprofit schools in the 2011-2012 survey by Payscale.com. The mid-career median salary for North Central College graduates is $81,300, ranking No. 39 out of 303 schools in the private, nonprofit category.
