North Central College alumna and trustee Maria Wynne has been named a founding member of the Chicago Innovation Awards Board of Advisors.

May 5, 2011—North Central College alumna and trustee Maria Wynne has been named a founding member of the Chicago Innovation Awards Board of Advisors.

The Chicago Innovation Awards, which started in 2002 to honor new products and services across the local public, private and non-profit sectors, invited Wynne to join its newly created 40-member advisory board. The board is comprised of business and civic leaders who understand the importance of innovation and what it means to the success of the Chicago region and the growth of its economy.

Legal expert on collective bargaining advises Higher Education Leadership course

Chicago attorney Larry Poltrock shared his expertise about collective bargaining issues with students in a Higher Education Leadership graduate program.

April 7, 2011—A Chicago attorney shared his expertise about collective bargaining issues while guest lecturing a course in North Central College’s Higher Education Leadership graduate program.

Larry Poltrock of the Chicago-based firm Poltrock & Poltrock told students in the master’s degree course on legal aspects of higher education they shouldn’t think of unions as just functions of blue-collar laborers. Collective bargaining issues affect teachers and other professionals represented by unions, he explained.

March 7, 2011—Students majoring in education at North Central College get to learn from excellent faculty members on a daily basis and from highly respected teachers in the field. Recently, four alumni of North Central’s undergraduate and graduate education programs returned to campus to share their expertise and advice with students in the 242 Classroom Management Techniques in Secondary Education class taught by Kristine Servais, associate professor of education.
