Students win 14 awards for North Central in international broadcast competition

WONC-FM 89.1 takes home three first-place trophies for Best Station Promo, Best Station Contest/Promotional Event and Best Promotions Director.

Student broadcasters representing WONC-FM 89.1, North Central College’s student-run radio station, have added 14 new awards to the station’s trophy case. They earned three first-place awards and 11 other finalist titles at the Intercollegiate Broadcasting System (IBS) International Conference held March 5 in New York City.

North Central College’s multicultural life on campus is expanding this fall to incorporate a larger celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. Though the College promotes many other Hispanic and Latino involvement opportunities throughout the academic year, Sept. 15 to Oct. 15 is devoted to a campus-wide celebration of various Hispanic cultures.
