Record number of students to present at national research conference

A record 38 students from various academic areas will represent North Central at the National Conference on Undergraduate Research this spring.

NAPERVILLE, Ill. (Jan. 31, 2011)—For the second year, a record number of North Central College students have been chosen to participate in the nation’s leading conference on undergraduate research.

For the second straight year, U.S. News ranks North Central in its “Best Undergraduate Teaching” category. North Central is ranked No. 6 among Midwestern schools recognized for strong commitment to the undergraduate teaching experience.

College faculty, staff inducted to Naperville's Heritage Hall of Honor

Two North Central College employees will be inducted to the Naperville Heritage Society's Heritage Hall of Honor Sunday, Aug. 1, at Naper Settlement.

Two North Central College employees will be inducted to the Naperville Heritage Society's Heritage Hall of Honor Sunday, Aug. 1, at Naper Settlement. The yearly recognition honors people and organizations that have made significant contributions to preserving the history of Naperville.

Ann Durkin Keating, Dr. C. Frederick Toenniges Professor of History, will be recognized for her historical and academic contributions. Mary Kay Hyett, office manager, Office of Community Development, will be honored for her volunteerism.

Tom Williams recognized as emeritus at Commencement

Associate professor awarded emeritus status at North Central's Commencement ceremonies.

Retiring North Central College associate professor Thomas Williams was awarded emeritus status at North Central's Commencement ceremonies on June 12. A resident of Naperville, he was named Associate Professor of Biology Emeritus.

Williams came to North Central College in 1981 from Washington State University, where he received a doctorate in zoology. He earned a bachelor's degree in biology from Willamette University and master's in biology from Drake University.

Chris Smith named 2010 recipient of the Mark A. Reid Student Leadership Award during North Central College's Commencement exercises on June 12.

Christopher Smith of Oak Lawn, Ill., son of Richard and Nanette Smith and a graduate of Oak Lawn Community High School, was named the 2010 recipient of the Mark A. Reid Student Leadership Award during North Central College's Commencement exercises on June 12.
