All proceeds from annual Bryan House Silent Auction to benefit Bryan House

The campus community is invited to attend the sixth annual Bryan House Silent Auction from 7 to 9:15 p.m. Friday, Nov. 19, at Community Christian Church, 1635 Emerson Lane in Naperville (corner of Ogden Avenue and Rickert Drive).

All proceeds from the silent auction will benefit Bryan House, a transitional housing program for refugee families from around the world. Shoppers can choose from hundreds of items, starting as low as $4; click here to learn more and view a sample list of items.

The independent film “The Great Match” will be shown as part of the College’s Film Central series at 7:30 p.m. Monday, April 11, in Meiley-Swallow Hall. Unrated, but suggested as PG for some language and adult references, the 90-minute film tells the adventurous story of three heroes, none of whom have ever met, but have two things in common: they all live in the farthest-flung corners of the planet and are determined to see on TV the final in Japan of the 2002 World Cup between Germany and Brazil.

On Tuesday, March 1, “An Evening of Short Films,” featuring various genres of independent shorts ranging from serious to silly, will be shown at 7:30 p.m. in Meiley-Swallow Hall.

Film Central features thriller “Sympathetic Details” Feb. 17

The College’s Film Central series will present an opening short film and the 2008 independent film “Sympathetic Details” by Benjamin Busch at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 17, in Meiley-Swallow Hall. This screening was originally scheduled for Feb. 3. Rated R, Busch’s film is a psychological thriller that uses character and dialogue instead of action sequences to tell the story of an assassin who makes a moral decision to leave his life of professional murder.

A full schedule of events at North Central College this evening includes a visit by noted authors Jim Lehrer and Sue Miller, a free screening of a documentary about homelessness and a performance by the Concert Winds ensemble. North Central and Anderson's Bookshop co-host an appearance by Lehrer and Miller, who have each written books about trains with Chicago ties, at 7 tonight in Pfeiffer Hall, 310 E. Benton Ave.
