April 15 water symposium culminates yearlong Fulbright residency

National, regional, state, local and Canadian officials will discuss the many dimensions of water usage and conservation during “The Ripple Effect” symposium Thursday, April 15, from 4 to 9 p.m. in Heininger Auditorium. Designed to raise awareness of issues surrounding water use and conservation in North America, the event will begin with a review of actions being taken on campus and in Naperville, Chicago and other North American cities. From 4 to 6 p.m. participants can attend three sessions on various topics. The sessions resume from 7 to 9 p.m., along with a panel discussion at 7 p.m.

Fulbright scholar addresses climate change is our cities

Meet and hear from North Central’s fifth Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence Radha Rajagopalan Tuesday, Feb. 23. She will give a talk titled “It’s Not Just Hot Air: Facing Climate Change in North American Cities,” drawing on her experience and expertise as senior research analyst in Toronto’s Environment Office. Rajagopalan’s free talk will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Meiley-Swallow Hall. Her strong interest in global climate change and water conservation complements the College's 2009-2010 international and cultural focus on global environmental change.
