The men’s basketball team traveled to Italy this summer for a chance to compete internationally and see some of Italy’s great historical sites. During the 2011-2012 season, the men tied the school record with 22 wins, making the school’s deepest postseason run in the NCAA tournament.

On the basketball court, the reigning CCIW champions played an afternoon game on Aug. 4 with the Ostia Sharks professional team in Rome. The Cardinals (photo, light jerseys) pulled away from the Sharks, 98-72, in a competitive game. A second game in Florence was canceled.

Each June after Commencement, Robert Moussetis, associate professor of international business, takes students on a trip abroad. This year, he and 20 others will visit Italy from June 13 to 23 with a goal of seeing as many sites and experiencing as much culture, art, architecture, history and current challenges as possible during their visit. They will travel to Venice, Florence (photo), Rome, Pompeii, Sorrento, Amalfi and the island of Capri. Often called the “travelin’ man,” Moussetis loves to travel and has led many D-Term and summer trips abroad.
