The Cardinals completed their 2010 football season with the most wins ever—12—in a single season and their first-ever appearance among the Elite Eight in the NCAA Division III Championship playoffs. The Cards lost their quarterfinal showdown, 20-10, against the defending national champion University of Wisconsin-Whitewater on a snowy, cold Dec. 4. The Warhawks (13-0) never led until the fourth period, when they scored three times.

When you watch the Cardinal football team at noon Saturday, Nov. 20, in Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium for its first round of playoff action against St. Norbert College, you’ll need a ticket. No passes will be accepted at this NCAA event. General admission is $8/person, $4/student with a North Central ID. Pick up your tickets Wednesday through Friday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m., in the Office of Athletics at Merner Field House or Saturday starting at 10:30 a.m. at the stadium ticket booth.

Winning contests on Nov. 13 meant the men’s cross country and football teams head to NCAA Division III National Championships in their sports on Nov. 20. In cross country, all seven runners finished in the top 25 at regionals, securing the team’s third straight NCAA Division III Midwest Regional title at the Saukie Golf Course and participation in the National Championships in Waverly, Iowa. The squad aims to claim its second straight national title and 14th overall.

The final regular season football game is Saturday at home at 1 p.m. against North Park. A Cardinal win will clinch North Central’s sole possession of the CCIW crown.
