On Saturday, June 2, North Central College features a Flute Extravaganza and a Student Composer Showcase, both in Wentz Concert Hall. The Flute Extravaganza, featuring students from North Central’s Flute Choir and flute studio in solos and small chamber and large ensembles, takes the stage at 3 p.m. And at 7:30 p.m., a Student Composer Showcase will feature a concert of original chamber, solo and choral works by North Central student composers at 7:30 p.m. Admission to both events is free.

Several of the College’s choral and instrumental ensembles will perform in Wentz Concert Hall—from every possible location—at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 23. “Explore the Sound III” will feature the 45-voice Women’s Chorale and the 17-voice mixed Chamber Singers—both under the direction of Ramona Wis, Mimi Rolland Professor in the Fine Arts, professor and chair of music—and the 55-voice Cardinal Chorus, under the direction of Jacqueline Schutt.

The Feb. 23 concert brings together several of the College’s ensembles, performing in every possible location—from the side balconies, aisles, sound chambers, side stairways, loft, stage and more—in Wentz Concert Hall at 7:30 p.m. The lineup includes the new Cardinal Chorus, conducted by Jacqueline Schutt; Concert Choir, led by visiting conductor Jon Warfel; String Ensemble directed by Mara Gallagher; Flute Choir directed by Marie Bennett; and solo saxophonist Lawrence Van Oyen and percussionist Benjamin Wahlund.
