City of Naperville will test outdoor warning sirens Oct. 7-11

The City of Naperville informs the public that annual maintenance on the city’s 25 outdoor warning sirens will take place throughout the week of Oct. 7-11, between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.   

During this time, each of the city’s outdoor warning sirens will be activated individually for evaluation. The campus community should not be alarmed when the sirens go off.

Lester Belding and Marcy Thurwachter are two of six individuals who will be inducted into North Central College's Athletic Hall of Fame on Saturday, Oct. 26, during the 2013 Homecoming Weekend.

Belding had a wealth of experience before his arrival at North Central College in 1945 and used his skills as an administrator and coach over a 20-year tenure to set the stage for the Cardinals’ many successes to follow. More

The North Central College Athletics Department hosted its ninth annual Huddle on Sept. 19 inside the revamped Gregory Arena, with President Troy Hammond addressing more than 700 student-athletes, coaches and faculty mentors.  

The Huddle is North Central College’s annual opportunity for student-athletes to “formally gather to celebrate the beginning of a new academic year,” said master of ceremonies and assistant vice president for external affairs Jim Godo ’93.

Starting Monday, Sept. 9, the City of Naperville will begin resurfacing work on Washington Street, pending weather and unforeseen circumstances. Work is expected to be complete in mid-October.

Construction along Washington Street—between Osler Drive (near Edward Hospital) and School Street (north end of campus)—may cause delays to motorists traveling to and from campus during this time. Students, faculty and staff who typically use Washington Street are encouraged to find alternate routes.

At its May 2013 meeting, the Board of Trustees of North Central College granted tenure and approved promotions to several faculty members effective with the start of the 2013-2014 academic year in September. These faculty are:

Jeffrey Anstine, Ph.D., was promoted to professor of management
Doh-Khul Kim, Ph.D., was granted tenure
Robert Moussetis, Ph.D., was promoted to professor of international business
Godfrey Muganda, Ph.D., was promoted to professor of computer science
