This year’s techFest program for faculty and staff includes a variety of technology-related workshops, including ones that cover recording and editing of video and audio, and utilizing audio and video for websites, Facebook pages or email attachments. Other sessions focus on designing posters, newsletters and better spreadsheets, mapping a trip, giving a presentation and organizing events. A workshop on mobile computing will be co-led by President Hammond. All sessions will be held in Carnegie Hall.

North Central College presents “The West Memphis Three,” a screening of the Academy Award-nominated documentary “Paradise Lost 3” and speaker series. The film will be shown at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 18, in the College’s Madden Theatre. The following day, guest speakers will discuss the film at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19, in Heininger Auditorium.

For the final global human rights event of the term, the Office of International Affairs will host its annual International Roundtable Lunch and panel discussion from noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19, in the Harold and Eva White Activities Center. In honor of International Education Week, the event will double as a fundraiser to support international education scholarships.

On Tuesday, Oct. 29, the City of Naperville will repair a water main at the corner of Loomis Street and Chicago Avenue (southeast corner of Schneller Hall). Heavy equipment and city work crews will be in the area, affecting traffic on Chicago Avenue and access to Loomis Street.

Changes to traffic flow will start at 8 a.m. and water will be shut off at 9 a.m.

Westbound traffic on Chicago Avenue will not be affected. “No Parking” signs will be in place between Brainard and Loomis on Chicago Avenue.

North Central College invites the campus community to participate in the Oxfam America Hunger Banquet®, a free event that’s part of the College’s yearlong global human rights focus on poverty reduction.

The banquet will start at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, in the Harold and Eva White Activities Center.

A section of Van Buren Avenue near the Van Buren Parking Deck became one-way westbound beginning Monday, Oct. 7, to accommodate work for the Main Street Promenade East development.

City of Naperville will test outdoor warning sirens Oct. 7-11

The City of Naperville informs the public that annual maintenance on the city’s 25 outdoor warning sirens will take place throughout the week of Oct. 7-11, between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.   

During this time, each of the city’s outdoor warning sirens will be activated individually for evaluation. The campus community should not be alarmed when the sirens go off.
