Gerald Gems, professor of health and physical education, has had a number of recent publications. His book titled Understanding American Sports, which he co-authored with Gertrud Pfister of the University of Copenhagen, was published in July by Routledge. His chapter titled “Sport Historians, the City, and the New Social History” was published in Routledge Companion to Sports History (London) by Steven Pope and John Nauright, eds.
