Stephen Maynard Caliendo, North Central College professor of political science, Ruge Fellow and chair of the Division of Human Thought and Behavior, and Charlton McIlwain, associate professor of media, culture and communication at New York University, wrote an article titled “Mitt Romney’s Racist Appeals: How Race Was Played in the 2012 Presidential Election.” It was published in the Sage publication American Behavioral Scientist (ABS), Nov. 4, 2013.

More than 100 students from across the country traveled to North Central College for the 2012 Blue Key National Conference, which took place Jan. 13-14.

The students represented 13 different colleges and universities, ranging from the University of Portland in Oregon to Slippery Rock University in Pennsylvania. Over the course of the conference, students had the opportunity to participate in a vast array of activities.

The North Central College campus community is invited to join members of the political science department Tuesday, Jan. 3, to watch the first-in-the-nation selection for the Republican presidential nomination. Watch an actual Iowa caucus taking place from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. in Smith Hall at Old Main. Refreshments will be served.
