College hosts Latin American Poetry Festival Nov. 7

Six well-known Hispanic poets will read their original, distinctive work at North Central’s fourth Latin American Poetry Festival Friday, Nov. 7.

North Central College will celebrate Hispanic poetry by hosting its fourth Latin American Poetry Festival Nov. 7 and presenting six Hispanic poets who will read, mostly in Spanish, their original work.

The Poetry Festival takes place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7, in the Fireside Lounge at the Harold and Eva White Activities Center. The free event is organized by Silvia Goldman, assistant professor of Spanish, and sponsored by the College’s Cultural Events program and student group Fusión Española. A discussion and tapas will follow the readings.

North Central College’s Spanish department and Fusión Espanola host “Festival de cine iberoamericano,” a viewing of films and discussion series, April 30-May 8.

North Central College’s Spanish department and student club Fusión Espanola cohost “Festival de cine iberoamericano,” a viewing of four films and faculty-led discussion series April 30 through May 8. The film festival is meant to serve as a cultural component for the Spanish language program. All screenings are free, open to the campus community and will be held in the theatre at Meiley-Swallow Hall.
