Warfel is featured pianist in two Fox Valley Orchestra performances

Jon Warfel, North Central College lecturer in music, performed Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue” as guest pianist with the Fox Valley Orchestra.

Jon Warfel, North Central College lecturer in music and staff accompanist, was guest pianist with the Fox Valley Orchestra in two concerts titled “American Rhapsody,” featuring works by Gershwin, Dvorak and Dohnanyi.

Warfel performed “Rhapsody in Blue” by American composer George Gershwin on Sept. 21 at the Norris Cultural Arts Center in St. Charles and on Sept. 22 at the Crimi Auditorium in the Institute for Collaboration at Aurora University in Aurora.
 

Naperville Chorus to perform “Messiah” in Wentz Concert Hall

Naperville Chorus and Naperville Festival Orchestra will perform Mozart’s arrangement of George Frideric Handel’s “Messiah” on Dec. 3 at North Central College.

NAPERVILLE, Ill. (Dec. 15, 2010)—Music professor Paul Warren Allen could be moved to tears by the beautiful sounds created by students in his choir at North Central College.

“I remember one Christmas he was conducting the choir singing Handel’s ‘Messiah.’ The truth of the words gripped him and he had crocodile tears running down his cheeks,” recalls his daughter, Paula Billingsley.

NAPERVILLE, Ill. (Jan. 14, 2011)—Students in North Central College’s Concert Choir will perform two concerts with the DuPage Symphony Orchestra Feb. 12 and 13.

“The Genius of Prokofiev” will include excerpts from the composer’s 1940 ballet masterpiece “Romeo and Juliet” and will conclude with the powerful “Alexander Nevsky” cantata featuring the orchestra accompanied by the College’s Concert Choir and the Naperville Chorus.
