North Central College’s Mock Trial team defeated 13 other teams to win a third-place trophy at the annual Bradley University Mock Trial Invitational, held Oct. 25-26.

The North Central College Mock Trial team received several individual awards during its 2013-2014 season, October to February.

Team members performed exceptionally well, winning 11 individual awards as they competed against powerhouses such as the University of Chicago, Northwestern University and Princeton University. Their season ended with a well-fought Regional Tournament with 24 of the most competitive teams in the area.

Student wins top honors and tuition prize to law school

North Central College political science major and junior Jennifer Rieger earned second-place honors and a tuition waiver to attend John Marshall Law School after competing at the law school’s annual National Undergraduate Diversity Mock Trial Competition April 13-14.

Some 60 top students from colleges and universities across the country met at Marshall’s Chicago campus to compete for the chance to win law school tuition waivers. Rieger’s second-place finish in the individual best advocate award netted her a $9,000 prize in tuition waivers to John Marshall.

North Central’s Mock Trial team wins civility award and senior Josh Bailey is named Outstanding Attorney at national invitational tournament.

Feb. 4, 2011—North Central’s Mock Trial team competed at the 23rd annual National Invitational Tournament at Loras College, Dubuque, Iowa, Jan. 28-29. The tournament is the largest and most challenging contest the team faces all year. Of the 70 participating teams, 50 earned bids to last season’s national competition.

Two members of North Central’s Mock Trial team were recognized at the University of St. Francis Mock Trial Midwest Challenge Part V Tournament Dec. 4-5. Joshua Bailey ’11, majoring in political science and English writing, earned awards for Outstanding Attorney and Outstanding Witness—a notable achievement because students are rarely recognized for exceptional performance in both roles.

Feb. 22, 2010—Students from North Central College’s Mock Trial team will sharpen their critical thinking and public speaking skills and knowledge of legal practices by competing in the American Mock Trial Association (AMTA) national tournament March 12-14 in Waukegan. Top finishers from the opening round advance to the National Championship Tournament April 16-18 in Memphis, Tenn.
