North Central College welcomes alumna Shawndra Brown ’06 Lucas as guest speaker for its annual Prayer Breakfast on Jan. 19, kicking off a weeklong celebration of the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Free and hosted by the Office of Ministry and Service, the Prayer Breakfast will take place from 7 to 8 a.m. Monday, Jan. 19, in the Harold and Eva White Activities Center. Reservations are required; contact Chelsea Armstrong at 630-637-5151 or cmarmstrong@noctrl.edu.

North Central College welcomes author, academic and provocative civil rights activist Dr. Cornel West Jan. 23 as Martin Luther King Jr. Week keynote speaker.

Each year, North Central College honors and remembers King with a keynote presentation, musical tributes, a prayer breakfast and activities. This year’s theme is “A Journey Defined.” King spoke in North Central College’s Pfeiffer Hall in 1960.

NeAngela Marshall, an assistant state’s attorney with Cook County and 2004 alumna, is featured speaker at North Central College’s MLK Prayer Breakfast Jan. 20.

North Central College alumna NeAngela Marshall ’04, J.D., will be the College’s featured speaker at the Jan. 20 Prayer Breakfast honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his birthday. The title of her message is “Use Your Words!” and is based on the College’s theme this year for MLK Week, “The Power of Words.”

North Central College invites members of the community to join its annual celebration of the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. with a weeklong lineup of events Jan. 15-21, 2012.

This year’s theme “Where do we go from here?” will honor and remember King with musical tributes, a prayer breakfast, activities and keynote presentation by talk show host, political commentator and entrepreneur Tavis Smiley Jan. 19.
