Wis works with choral musicians as guest conductor at festival

Ramona Wis, North Central College Mimi Rolland Professor in the Fine Arts and professor of music, was guest conductor for Honors Music Festival at area school.

Ramona Wis, North Central College Mimi Rolland Professor in the Fine Arts and professor and chair of music, was guest conductor for the Northwest Upstate Illini Conference (NUIC) Honors Music Festival held at Galena High School in Galena, Ill., March 22. Wis worked with nearly 100 choral musicians during the daylong conference and presented a public performance that evening.

Wis joined North Central’s faculty in 1994. She received a B.S. from the University of Illinois, an M.M. from Northern Illinois University and a Ph.D. from Northwestern University.

Ramona Wis, North Central College Mimi Rolland Professor in the Fine Arts and professor and chair of music, presented a session titled, “Choral Conducting Master Class: Small Changes, Big Results,” at the 2013 Illinois Music Education Conference on Jan. 24 in Peoria, Ill.

Ramona M. Wis, North Central College’s Mimi Rolland Professor in the Fine Arts and professor and chair of music, gave an in-service workshop presentation titled “Best Practices in the Choral/General Music Classroom” for the vocal/general music teachers in Naperville Community Unit School District 203 on  March 2.

Wis, North Central College’s Mimi Rolland Professor in the Fine Arts and professor and chair of music, was keynote speaker and a session presenter at the British Columbia Music Educators Association conference, titled “Forte 2011: Growing Strong in Music Education,” in Richmond, British Columbia, Oct. 20-22.
