Tavis Smiley to speak at North Central College during Martin Luther King Jr. Week

Radio and television host Tavis Smiley will be keynote speaker Jan. 19 during the annual Martin Luther King Jr. Week observance at North Central College.

Dec. 5, 2011—Radio and television host Tavis Smiley will be keynote speaker during the annual Martin Luther King Jr. Week observance at North Central College.

The talk show host, political commentator and entrepreneur will deliver his presentation, “America I AM,” at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 19 in Pfeiffer Hall, 310 E. Alum cites impact of King's inspirational words

King’s words helped Brian Lee '01, speaker at the Martin Luther King Jr. Prayer Breakfast, overcome adversity after a season-ending football injury.

Jan. 17, 2011—The keynote speaker at North Central College’s 2011 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Prayer Breakfast says the civil rights leader’s words inspired him to achieve success in his life.

Brian Lee, a 2001 graduate of North Central, told the gathering of nearly 200 students, community leaders and other guests how King’s words helped him overcome adversity when he sustained a season-ending injury during his football-playing days at North Central.
