Students and faculty participate in German immersion conference

North Central College students attended and faculty member Karin Duncker-Hoffmann presented at the Northern Illinois College Immersion Day of German.

Nine North Central College students participated in the third annual Northern Illinois College Immersion Day of German April 18 hosted by the American Association of Teachers of German (AATG). More than 150 students and instructors of German from the area attended the event at College of DuPage.

Karin Duncker-Hoffmann, North Central College lecturer in English and German, helped organize and present at the conference.

North Central College’s faculty Monica Vuksanovich and Karin Duncker-Hoffmann coauthor published article titled “Writing with English Language Learners.”

Monica Vuksanovich (photo, left), North Central College visiting assistant professor of Spanish, and Karin Duncker-Hoffmann (right), instructor of ESL (English as a second language), coauthored the article, “Writing with English Language Learners: Advice for Training Writing Center Tutors.” It was published in the Summer 2013 issue of ITBE Link, the quarterly publication by the Illinois Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages-Bilingual Education (ITBE).
