A recent tradition by the North Central College athletics department of raising funds for the American Cancer Society will continue Saturday, Sept. 29, during the Cardinals’ football game against Elmhurst College.

As is the case with many across the country, members of the Cardinal football program have been impacted by cancer in recent years. One team member’s experiences of watching several members of his family fight a battle, which has claimed so many casualties, have served as his own rallying cry to press forward and pursue his dreams.

A recent segment of “The Red Zone,” a weekly football highlight produced by Naperville Community Television, featured the family aspect of the Cardinals’ football program—its five sets of brothers on the team and its coaching staff that includes a set of brothers, a father-son combo and a father of two recent alumni. The story about family connections starts around the five-minute mark of the 10-minute edition; the first half of the video reviews the Cardinal win against Augustana, 24-3, on Oct. 8.



Carius and Thorne named coaches of the year

Head cross country coach Al Carius was named Midwest Coach of the Year and head football coach John Thorne was honored as CCIW Football Coach of the Year.
