Students and alumni music educators connect at Illinois Music Educators Association conference

A record number 60 North Central College music education majors, 23 music education alumni and faculty attended the annual IMEA All-State Conference.

Each year, North Central College students, faculty and alumni attend the Illinois Music Educators Association (IMEA) All-State Conference where they host an exhibit and attend workshops, classes, rehearsals and performances.

Some 60 North Central music education majors and 23 music education alumni—the largest turnout ever for the College—attended the 2014 conference, held Jan. 22-25 in Peoria. All the music education alumni, from class years 1996 to 2013, are currently employed as music educators.

Wis is guest conductor at Illinois Music Educators Association festival

Ramona Wis, North Central College Mimi Rolland Professor in the Fine Arts, was Honors Chorus Guest Conductor for the IMEA District IX Festival.

Ramona Wis, North Central College Mimi Rolland Professor in the Fine Arts and chair and professor of music, was Honors Chorus Guest Conductor for the Illinois Music Educators Association (IMEA) District IX Festival held Nov. 23 at East Aurora High School. Wis rehearsed the 306-voice chorus, chosen by audition from among 50 high school choral programs in the western and northwestern Illinois area, and then conducted the ensemble in a culminating concert, which also featured the Honors Band and Honors Chorus of District IX.
