North Central College and DuPage Symphony Orchestra cosponsor two “Broadway Spectacular” concerts March 15-16 with featured artists.

North Central College’s fine arts department and the DuPage Symphony Orchestra are cosponsoring two “Broadway Spectacular” concerts March 15-16 in Wentz Concert Hall, featuring vocal performances and music from Broadway classics.  

The featured vocalist is internationally renowned soprano Lisa Vroman. One of America’s most versatile voices—from Broadway to classics, on stage and in concert—she also will perform two songs with North Central’s Fine Arts Director Brian Lynch.

The DuPage Symphony Orchestra (DSO) will acknowledge its fine arts partnership with North Central College during a gala fundraiser this weekend.

An evening of festivities celebrating 25 years of the DSO under the direction of Maestra Barbara Schubert will begin at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, April 14, at the Hyatt Hotel, Lisle. Musicians, DSO board members, patrons and community leaders will celebrate the changes and growth within the DSO during Schubert’s first 25 years as conductor and music director.

On April 20, WFMT-FM 98.7 will broadcast a concert by violinist Rachel Barton Pine recorded last year in Wentz Concert Hall.

On April 20, 98.7WFMT—Chicago’s classical and fine arts radio station—will broadcast a concert by renowned violinist Rachel Barton Pine recorded last year in North Central College’s acoustically stunning Wentz Concert Hall.

The concert will be broadcast at 8 p.m. Friday, April 20 and may be heard on the radio in the Chicago area at WFMT-FM 98.7 or online anywhere at wfmt.com/streaming.

John Stamos of "Full House" fame will be behind the drums when The Beach Boys rock North Central College’s Pfeiffer Hall during two performances.

John Stamos of "Full House" fame will be behind the drums when The Beach Boys rock North Central College’s Pfeiffer Hall during two performances Oct. 15-16.

Stamos sits in with the band occasionally and his appearance with the group has been confirmed for these performances.

With three distinctive Christmas shows this weekend—two Saturday night and one Sunday—North Central offers an entertaining lineup of performances to kick off the holiday season. Two matinee shows on Saturday, Dec. 4, bring a musical interpretation of the Charles Dickens classic “A Christmas Carol” to Pfeiffer Hall. At 8 p.m. also on Dec.

On Jan. 6-9, students will perform “Quake,” a comical yet thought-provoking play about the misadventures of Lucy in her journey to find the love of her life.
