North Central College German majors Emily Labedz ’15 and Hannah Kramer ’14 are invited to speak to local residents about German culture.

North Central College German majors Hannah Kramer ’14 and Emily Labedz ’15 gave formal presentations to senior residents of Monarch Landing, a Naperville retirement community, on March 12. Their presentations focused on their research and travels in Germany.

Kramer, who’s pursuing state certification to teach German in high schools, studied in Heidelberg, Germany, in fall 2013 and participated in a D-Term study trip to Germany in 2012 led by Gregory Wolf, Dennis and Jean Bauman Professor in the Humanities and professor of German.

Registration open for 2013 D-Term Verandah experiences

D-Term Verandahs offer 12 opportunities for students of any major to pursue informal, experiential learning in small groups with faculty members.

Registration is underway for all 12 D-Term Verandah experiences that are open to any major. No special skills or experience are necessary to participate. Students can explore Chicago theatre, film music, different cultures, contemporary drama, a museum exhibit about propaganda, sustainability solutions, square dancing, Spanish culture and more. Some experiences are on campus, some off campus.

North Central College’s D-Term offers students range of opportunities—from travel to service to academics and more—to enhance their educational experiences.

Nov. 29, 2011—During North Central College’s D-Term—a three-week period between Thanksgiving and Christmas—students have a wide range of opportunities to choose from to enhance and expand their educational experiences. Opportunities range from service to academic to travel and intramural sports, and locations span from across the country to overseas to the Chicago area and campus.  

D-Term Verandah courses offer experiential learning

North Central College offers a record 17 Verandah experiences during D-Term, including four for first-year students only. Register on Merlin; space is limited.

During 2011 D-Term, North Central College is offering a record number of Verandah course offerings for students. These experiential learning opportunities connect faculty and students in informal environments outside the classroom around topics of interest.

North Central College is offering students a record number of opportunities to study abroad this year.

Feb. 22, 2010—North Central College is offering students a record number of opportunities to study abroad this year.

Students may choose from 10 different programs that will visit 13 different countries during the College’s D-Term in December 2010. The courses are available to all students; even incoming freshman in fall 2010 are eligible to enroll in some D-Term courses abroad.

Students who served in Haiti raise funds for earthquake relief

A team of seven North Central College students who traveled to Haiti are raising funds to support relief efforts after the Jan. 12 earthquake.

Jan. 19, 2009--A team of seven North Central College students who traveled to Haiti in December 2009 to work at an orphanage, school and medical center are raising funds to support relief efforts after the Jan. 12 earthquake. Donations will support Mission of Hope's medical clinic Hospital of Hope, which is located north of Port-au-Prince and is functioning, but overwhelmed with need.
