North Central College Scholar Louis Waldmeir ’13, majoring in German and minoring in history of ideas, presented research from his senior honors thesis at Heidelberg University in Tiffin, Ohio, on Oct. 27. The presentation, titled “National Tradition and Local Meaning: The Relevance of German Beer Culture,” was given to an audience of students and faculty as a part of Heidelberg University’s series of German Club-sponsored events.

Service, study abroad inspire student’s research on immigration reform

North Central College senior Jenna Slack presents research at national conference that supports using mediation to resolve immigration conflict, direct policy.

Senior Jenna Slack from Carol Stream, Ill., is among 45 students from North Central College whose research project was accepted for presentation at a leading national conference on undergraduate research.

Her research topic—using mediation to examine and resolve illegal migration issues—evolved after a study abroad experience her sophomore year led to subsequent volunteer work.

Laurel White is Outstanding Senior Woman

North Central College has named Laurel White of Bloomington, Ill., Outstanding Senior Woman, the highest award presented to a member of the class of 2010.

June 2, 2010--North Central College has named Laurel White of Bloomington, Ill., Outstanding Senior Woman, the highest award presented to a member of the class of 2010.

White will graduate June 12 with a double major in English writing and interactive media studies and a minor in social change/public advocacy. She is the daughter of William and Kay White of Bloomington and a graduate of University High School.

Junior heads to Uganda during spring break to research crisis journalism

Ryan Piers chose to travel Uganda, Africa, to conduct research for a project related to his major in broadcast communication and minor in journalism.
