Kimberly Lisanby-Barber '77

Kimberly Lisanby-Barber was named the 2012-2013 Elementary School Principal of the Year by the Illinois Principals Association. She is the principal of Lincoln Elementary School in the Spring Valley Clark County School District 99. The award recognizes elementary school principals who have demonstrated a positive impact on their students and learning community. As the award winner, she will compete for the National Distinguished Principal of the Year award sponsored by VALIC and the National Association of Elementary School Principals.

Doris Replogle Porter '82

Doris Replogle Porter founded Mayhaven Publishing in 1990 and publishes books, audio books and e-books for adults and children. In 2011 she produced eight books and two audio books. Mayhaven’s best-selling nonfiction book, “Ten Sisters: A True Story,” was based on Doris’ own life and made into two Public Broadcast System documentaries. She is the youngest of 10 sisters who were separated in 1942 and reunited many years later. She serves on the advisory board for the Lincoln Museum in Harrogate, TN, and is a member of the Urbana Rotary.

Carolyn Wroblewski Turner '89

Carolyn Wroblewski Turner was awarded the Carl Vacketta Administrative Excellence Award for her professional contributions as assistant dean for strategic initiatives to the University of Illinois College of Law in 2011. She works with senior administrators on issues and projects related to strategic communications, external engagement, long-range planning, alumni relations, donor stewardship, gift strategy and the college’s periodic reaccreditation process. She oversees the communications and special events staff and serves on various committees and working groups.

Deanne Reedquist Sramek '93

Deanne Reedquist Sramek has been a clinical nurse researcher at Wyoming Medical Center in Casper, WY, for seven years. She helps provide staff with the knowledge and resources to access and utilize evidence in their nursing practice. She educates new graduates and nurses on research and evidence-based practice, assists with research projects and practice changes, and mentors undergraduate and graduate students with their projects.

Kristine Book '06

Kristine Book is teaching elementary schoolchildren in South Korea. Students in grades one through three learn grammar, speaking and drama, while older students are formulating their own conversations and arguments with a debate class. After earning her bachelor’s degree in organizational communication, she pursued a master’s degree in teaching from National-Louis University. In her free time, she has traveled throughout South Korea, to the 38th parallel that separates North and South Korea, and to Jeju, an island known as the Hawaii of Korea.

Lindsey Howard '07

Lindsey Howard is operations manager for WorldFinds, a wholesale fair-trade women’s accessories company based in Westmont, IL. She manages the preparation and shipping of orders, quality and inventory control, tradeshow participation, website management and photography of the products for Web and catalog sales. She was involved with Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE) as a student and continues to be active as a business advisory board member.

Robyn Gautschy '08

Robyn Gautschy is assistant editor of special publications at the Southeast Missourian in Cape Girardeau, MO. She has been recognized as a Who’s Who in Southeast Missouri Business and with a Go-Getter Award for Outstanding Service with the Zonta Club of Cape Girardeau. She recently traveled with the Zonta Club to Haiti for a service trip to assist women and children.

Helen MacGregor Baker '48

Helen MacGregor Baker holds an administrative assistant position at Neighborhood Counseling Associates in Montgomery, IL. She recently wrote she was printing “a gazillion” envelopes, mailing statements, answering the phone and scheduling appointments and meetings. Baker also continues to volunteer as a parish nurse at Oswego Presbyterian Church.

Kristine Lipowski '08

Kristine Lipowski is project coordinator at Northwestern University’s Alzheimer’s Disease Center, where she has worked for three years with patients and research subjects who have Alzheimer’s or related dementias or disorders. She helps patients and their families become involved in clinical trials for new interventional and therapeutic drugs or devices to treat the symptoms of Alzheimer’s or dementias. She is enrolled in a master’s program in liberal studies and anticipates graduating in June 2012 and applying for a Ph.D. program in sociology.

Allen Panek '61

Allen Panek co-authored a book titled “Plain Talk About Drinking Water” through the American Water Works Association. The book contains 231 questions and answers on aspects of water, including health, taste and odor, home use, sources, conservation, distribution and treatment. Published in 2010 as the fifth edition, the book has been one of the association’s top selling publications.
