The exhibit was displayed Aug. 1 through Aug. 7 in the College's Schoenherr Gallery in the Fine Arts Center. More than 20 Monarch Landing residents exhibited their original artwork, including paintings, metal sculpture, fiber arts, photography and Japanese book-binding.

Barry Skurkis, associate professor of art, is one of many artists showcasing their artwork in an exhibit at the Oakbrook Center gardens this summer.

Barry Skurkis, associate professor of art, is one of three dozen artists showcasing their art in an exhibit titled “In Bloom” at the gardens and fountains at Oakbrook Center. Some 30 fiberglass sculptures and 11 fine art sculptures decorated by artists or artist groups will be on display through Sept. 20 as part of a good cause and fundraising effort.

Aug. 25, 2010—One of the nation’s foremost collections of 20th century American self-taught art will be displayed this fall North Central College.

“Say Rah! Chicago Self-Taught Art from the Arient Family Collection” is free and open to the public from Oct. 1 through Nov. 7 in Schoenherr Art Gallery at the Fine Arts Center, 171 E. Chicago Ave., Naperville.

An e-media artist, Heather Freeman will showcase her multimedia exhibit “Personal Demons,” Aug. 27-Sept. 26, in North Central’s Schoenherr Art Gallery. Her images combine human and animal forms using print, drawing, painting, photography and other media. They explore the language and symbolic forms of science and their intersection with mythic, religious and popular iconography. Freeman is an assistant professor of digital media at the University of North Carolina–Charlotte, where she teaches digital print, animation, video, installation and drawing.
