June 10, 2010—Just in time for summer family vacation road trips, a new art exhibit at North Central College celebrates vintage Americana with paintings representing all 50 states.

Visitors are welcome to view the free exhibit, “States: Paintings from the American Road,” by artist Karen Stinnett of Amissville, Va., June 20 through July 22 at North Central College’s Oesterle Library Gallery, 320 E. School St., Naperville.

The exhibit “The Sky is Falling, The Sky is Falling: A Natural History of the Painted Cloud” is free and open to the public and will be displayed in Schoenherr Art Gallery at the College’s Fine Arts Center, 171 E. Chicago Ave., Naperville.

North Central student selected to exhibit sculptures at DuPage art show

The event is free and open to the public and takes place from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, May 8, at Lilacia Park, 150 S. Park Ave., Lombard. The park is located one block north of Maple Street and Park Avenue.

The Senior Art Show will be exhibited in the Oesterle Library Gallery, 320 E. School St., and the Meiley-Swallow Hall Gallery, 31 S. Ellsworth St., both in Naperville. Students will greet visitors during an opening reception from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, May 16, in both locations.

March 16, 2010—An exhibit at North Central College April 16 though May 7 showcases the collection of William H. Bigham Galleries, a leading exhibitor of multicultural artworks in the Chicago area.

The exhibit features exotic authentic African bronze, stone, and wood sculptures, contemporary original mixed media oil paintings, elegant custom-designed jewelry and bright, colorful home accents and textiles.

Holz has won critical acclaim for mastering a delicate balance between the material world of organic life and the ethereal realm of thought and idea.

Jan. 19, 2010—“Home of the Angels,” a solo art show by North Central College senior Brigit Goudie of Oak Lawn will be exhibited Jan. 25 through Feb. 28 in the Meiley-Swallow Hall Gallery, 31 S. Ellsworth St., Naperville.

The artist will meet visitors and talk about her drawings during a reception from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 13. Goudie is graduating from North Central College in June 2010 with a major in English and a minor in studio art and art history.
