The three-day workshop will allow 20 female students the opportunity to become stronger, more daring and more thoughtful leaders, says Renee Kosiarek, assistant to the director of the Leadership, Ethics and Values program.

Each term Oesterle Library presents new and timely exhibits in its lobby. Winter term’s exhibits feature the scholarship of Dr. Troy Hammond and publications by various faculty members.

As Dr. Troy Hammond begins his tenure as the College’s 10th president, a special exhibit will showcase his scholarship throughout his career.

Curtis Hudson '88

Curtis Hudson was named principal of Charles Reed Elementary School in Plainfield, IL. This is his sixth year in Plainfield School District 202. He resides in Aurora, IL, with his wife and daughter, age 4.

Christopher Ranallo '09

Christopher Ranallo is the head coach for the girls swimming and diving program and a physical education teacher at West Aurora High School. Previously, Ranallo coached for two years at Metea Valley High School as an assistant in the boys and girls aquatics program and worked with both boys and girls swim programs at Naperville North High School while student teaching. He has also coached water polo at Waubonsie Valley High School and for the Geneva River Rats summer youth swimming program.

Steve Joslyn '86

Steve Joslyn was named head baseball coach at Chicago State University after spending the last 10 years as an assistant at Northern Illinois University under Ed Mathey ‘86. As NIU’s main assistant, Joslyn earned the title of associate head coach in 2008. His efforts at NIU helped the Huskies bring in three nationally ranked recruiting classes to DeKalb. Overall, Joslyn helped the Huskies to 255 victories and five Mid-American Conference Tournament appearances. Nearly every graduating outfielder tutored by Joslyn at Northern Illinois has signed a professional baseball contract.

North Central alumna Karen Popovich named 2012 Illinois Art Educator of the Year

The Illinois Art Education Association has named North Central College alumna Karen Popovich the 2012 Illinois Art Educator of the Year.

The Illinois Art Education Association (IAEA) has named North Central College alumna Karen Popovich the 2012 Illinois Art Educator of the Year.

Popovich, of Aurora, teaches at Indian Prairie School District 204’s Metea Valley High School in Aurora. She earned her bachelor’s degree in studio art from North Central College in 1996.

The annual award recognizes the exemplary contributions, service and achievements of an outstanding IAEA member. The award will be presented at the IAEA conference in Lisle on Nov. 2.
