Princeton Review names North Central College among nation’s best colleges for 2013

The Princeton Review has once again named North Central College a Best Midwestern College in its annual survey of the nation’s best colleges.

North Central College is among a select group of institutions nationwide highlighted by The Princeton Review in “The Best 377 Colleges, 2013 Edition.”

Only about 15 percent of America’s 2,500 four-year colleges are profiled in the book, which is based on the Princeton Review’s surveys of 122,000 college students. The Princeton Review began surveying college students and publishing its findings in 1992.

DePino is a senior with majors in history and political science at North Central College. He is the son of Mark and Davida DePino and is a 2009 graduate of Wheaton North High School.

North Central College recognized Peter Bulandr Jr. as the Outstanding Senior Man and Mary Caron as the Outstanding Senior Woman for 2012 during the College’s annual Honors Convocation on May 15.

The annual awards recognize one senior man and one senior woman for their successes in the classroom, their involvement and contributions to the campus community outside the classroom, and their future potential.

Tracie Morris was named vice president, human resources at ComEd. She returns to the company after holding the position of vice president of human resources for DeVry Inc. for the past year. Before joining DeVry, she served as director of human resources operations for ComEd and earlier served as director of human resources for Exelon Generation, a unit of Exelon Corp. Morris started with Exelon in 2002 as a manager of human resources at LaSalle Nuclear Power Station. She began her career at the U.S. Department of Labor and Department of Justice.

ComEd has named North Central College alumna Tracie Morris ’02 vice president for human resources, a key appointment to the company’s senior leadership team.

Morris earned her degree in organizational communication and previously served as vice president of human resources for DeVry Inc. Before joining DeVry, she served as director of human resources Operations for ComEd and earlier served as director of human resources for Exelon Generation, a unit of Exelon Corp. She began her career with Exelon in 2002 as a manager of human resources at the LaSalle Nuclear Power Station.

16 North Central student broadcasters earn nominations in national competition

Sixteen North Central College broadcasters representing WONC-FM 89.1 have earned 12 nominations in an annual national competition.

Feb. 7, 2012—Sixteen North Central College broadcasters representing WONC-FM 89.1, the College’s student-run radio station, have earned 12 nominations in an annual national competition sponsored by the Intercollegiate Broadcasting System (IBS).

Winners of the Golden Microphone Trophy Awards will be announced March 2-4 at the 72nd Annual IBS International Radio/Webcast Conference in New York City. Last year, North Central students brought home first-place awards for Best Sports Play-by-Play and Best Documentary at the 2011 IBS awards.
