Lawrence Van Oyen, professor of music and director of bands, and Jon Warfel, lecturer in music, performed in a program titled “Saxophonia II” at Eastern Michigan University Feb. 3. The event’s theme focused on World War II and included 15 performances by nine different musicians.

For third straight year, a record number of students will represent North Central College at the National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR).

For the third consecutive year, a record number of students from North Central College will participate in the nation’s leading conference on undergraduate research.

Forty-five students will represent North Central at the annual National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR) March 29-31 at Weber State University in Ogden, Utah. No other college or university in Illinois will send more students to this prestigious conference.

Alumnus lectures, performs in Beijing and is guest on WONC

Musician, world traveler and 2010 alumnus Mike Krieglstein will be the featured guest artist Feb. 7 as part of WONC’s Tuesday music night series. Listen to WONC-FM 89.1 from 6 to 8 p.m. to hear a live interview with Krieglstein about his recent adventures in China where he gave a lecture and performed. After the radio interview, Krieglstein will give a free live concert at 8 p.m. in the basement of the Rolland Center Boilerhouse Café.

On April 20, 98.7WFMT—Chicago’s classical and fine arts radio station—will broadcast a concert by renowned violinist Rachel Barton Pine recorded last year in North Central College’s acoustically stunning Wentz Concert Hall.

The concert will be broadcast at 8 p.m. Friday, April 20 and may be heard on the radio in the Chicago area at WFMT-FM 98.7 or online anywhere at wfmt.com/streaming.
