Sophomore marketing, management major joins Chicago Equestrian

Marketing and management double major Sarah Bryan has joined the staff of Chicago Equestrian.

Sophomore marketing and management major Sarah Bryan has joined the staff of Chicago Equestrian, where she will work in social media and event coverage.

Chicago Equestrian is an organization that provides news, events, contacts and marketing services for the equine industry, including an online magazine.

Alumnus Howard Hammer ’80 has been named regional sales manager for Intelligrated's southern operations team.

North Central College alumnus Howard Hammer ’80 has been named sales manager for Intelligrated’s southern operations team based in Alpharetta, Ga., reports Supply and Demand Chain Executive, a supply chain-oriented publication.

Self-Employment in the Arts Conference Feb. 24-25 helps careers of aspiring artists

Participants will learn how to run their own businesses as artists Feb. 24-25 during North Central College's Self Employment in the Arts (SEA) Conference.

College and high school students, educators and adults who aspire to be self-employed artists will gain valuable information about running their own businesses as artists Feb. 24-25, 2012 when North Central College hosts the 12th annual Self Employment in the Arts (SEA) Conference.

“I love being so close to downtown Naperville and the train station so I can take frequent trips to Chicago. I also enjoy North Central’s smaller class sizes. It makes it easier to build relationships with my professors,” says Miranda.

Marketing has proven to be a good fit for Miranda. “I learned I have a knack for connecting with people and showing them the benefits of a product, which lines up with marketing.” Her work as publicity chair for the Cardinal Union Activities Board, which organizes most of the events for students, and her involvement in the American Marketing Association have complemented her marketing classes. She landed an internship in Chicago with Mojo Spa, creator of homemade bath and beauty products, and plans to work in sales or the clothing industry.

Miranda credits North Central’s Career Development Center for “helping me understand expectations and responsibilities. They coached me in creating a resume, using online resources and preparing for interviews.”

In its 2011 "America's Top Colleges" survey, Forbes says North Central College is among the best undergraduate institutions in the nation.

Aug. 18, 2011—Forbes magazine rates North Central College among “America’s Top Colleges.”

“Our annual list of America's best undergraduate institutions focuses on educational outcomes, not reputations,” Forbes writer Michael Noer says in the piece. “Our annual ranking of the 650 best undergraduate institutions focuses on the things that matter the most to students: quality of teaching, great career prospects, graduation rates and low levels of debt.”

Sport management major interns with Chicago Blackhawks

Sport management major Derek Sanderson is spending his summer working as an intern with the Chicago Blackhawks' marketing department.

Sanderson, of St. Louis, Mo., is entering his junior year. He was profiled Friday in the Blackhawks Daily, the team's front office newsletter. In the profile he answered questions about why he chose to attend North Central, what books he likes to read and where he'd like to retire.
