North Central College - Naperville, IL

Jenna Markowski

Early on, Jenna was involved with North Central College’s student newspaper, The Chronicle. “It was hard work, but I dedicated most of my time and energy for four years into the student publication and it was the most rewarding learning experience. I gained lots of hands-on experience with journalism and the newsroom. I feel my experience as co-editor-in-chief during a time when journalism is shifting from print to online helped prepare me for the industry.”

Her career goal is to become a page designer or magazine editor. In the meantime, she’s already working for a promotional products distributor, based in Aurora, IL, as a writer of product descriptions and blogs.

As a student, Jenna found herself learning how to juggle multiple tasks, meet deadlines and adapt new skills. “It pays to get your work published and learn about production. And North Central gives you the opportunity to get involved in multiple student publications.”
