Students display art at professional exhibit

Twenty-one art students were chosen to showcase their work at the Paramount Theatre Art Gallery as part of gallery’s “Aspiring Artists” series through March.

NAPERVILLE, Ill. (Feb. 11, 2011)—Twenty-one art students at North Central College have been chosen to showcase their work at the Paramount Theatre Art Gallery in Aurora, Ill., as part of Paramount’s “Aspiring Artists” series. The free exhibit will be on display in the Grand Gallery until March 31.

The public is invited to meet the student artists during an artists’ reception from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 12, at the Paramount Theatre, 23 E. Galena Blvd. in Aurora.

Moran earns prestigious Jack Kent Cooke Foundation scholarship

North Central College student Peggy Moran has earned a prestigious Jack Kent Cooke Foundation scholarship.

Author and entrepreneur Peggy Moran knows the exact moment that triggered her decision to resume her education. It was in 2008, when her college-aged daughter was hospitalized with a life-threatening condition.

“That changed the way I view the present tense,” Moran says. “Everything suddenly became more meaningful, and time became of the essence in a different way.”

Record number of students to present at national research conference

A record 38 students from various academic areas will represent North Central at the National Conference on Undergraduate Research this spring.

Two students showcase their art April 6-May 9

April 5, 2011—North Central College seniors Melissa J. Massey and Patrick Tyler Buchenot will showcase their artwork in a two-person exhibit titled “Phantasm,” featuring two-dimensional work, drawings and mixed media.

The free exhibit runs April 6 through May 9 at the College’s Oesterle Library Gallery, 320 E. School St., Naperville. The artists will greet visitors during an opening reception from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 12. Complimentary refreshments will be served.

Students accepted into this program earn both a bachelor’s degree—in any discipline—and the master of leadership studies with the completion of 141 credit hours.

Nov. 8, 2010—Steve Oliveri of Crystal Lake, Ill., has been named North Central College’s 2010 Lincoln Laureate, an annual award that honors outstanding seniors at four-year degree-granting institutions in Illinois. North Central faculty selected Oliveri as the College’s top senior for his excellence in curricular and co-curricular activities.
