‘Out with the old in with the new’ theme earns Chronicle multiple awards

The Chronicle wins multiple awards, including second place for Best Website by Associated Collegiate Press & six awards by Illinois College Press Association.

North Central College’s journalism students have kicked up their skill level a few hundred notches with new print designs for the Chronicle and a user-friendly website called NCClinked.com. Their hard work in developing a new face for the student news operation hasn’t gone unnoticed in the journalism world.

The free exhibit is on display in the College’s Meiley-Swallow Hall Gallery, 31 S. Ellsworth St. An artist’s reception will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, in the gallery; light refreshments will be served.

North Central’s hire of 14 tenure-track faculty for the 2015-2016 academic year is the highest in 27 years and rivals the largest class ever.

Fourteen new tenure-track faculty members—representing all academic divisions, including arts and letters, business and economics, human thought and behavior, and science—started the 2015-2016 academic year at North Central College.

Elizabeth Composto was awarded the Outstanding Major in Interactive Media Studies Award during North Central College’s 2015 Honors Convocation.

Elizabeth Composto, daughter of Francesco and Renell of Bloomington, Ill., was awarded the 2015 Outstanding Major in Interactive Media Studies Award during Honors Day in May at North Central College.

Elizabeth, who graduated in June, majored in technology and graphic arts at North Central College. She is a graduate of University High School.

Former and current station managers of North Central College’s student-led radio station WONC-FM 89.1 are quickly rising to the top. Kevin Jackman ’14 and Russell Tanzillo ’15 have landed coveted broadcast positions at leading Chicago radio stations, and Samuel Reiman ’16 was awarded a prestigious broadcast award.
