Barry Beetz

Barry studied physics at North Central and went on to earn a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering at the University of Illinois through the College’s dual-degree program. Today, he’s using his engineering knowledge in the management of his family’s farm in central Illinois and serves as an elected director of the LaSalle County Farm Bureau Board.

“The dual-degree program is a way for you to be a well-rounded individual. North Central’s liberal arts education and the more technical course work at a bigger university give you the best of both worlds in learning.”

North Central’s size also allowed Barry more opportunities to get to know fellow students, he says. “I came from a small-town high school, and I think I would have been lost my freshman year at a big university. I also enjoyed the one-on-one interaction with the professors.”
