North Central College alumnus Munesh Makhija named CTO of GE India

GE has promoted North Central College alumnus Munesh Makhija to managing director of its India Technology Center and CTO of GE India.

General Electric (GE) has promoted North Central College alumnus Munesh Makhija to managing director of its India Technology Center and named him chief technology officer (CTO) of GE India.

Makhija will be based at the John F. Welch Technology Center in Bangalore, where he will oversee GE’s India technology team of more than 5,000 engineers and scientists. The facility is GE’s first and largest integrated multidisciplinary research and development center.

North Central graduate students learn about international businesses in Costa Rica

Twelve students from North Central College’s graduate programs learned about international business while in Costa Rica.

Julianna Stevenson of Oswego is one of 12 North Central College graduate students who learned about coffee businesses, imports and exports, and other trades during a weeklong study experience in Costa Rica.

The group visited two different coffee operations during the field experience Dec. 7-15. Stevenson, who is pursuing a master’s of international business administration (MIBA) degree, recounts how the group learned about the different business challenges faced by a smaller operation like Doka Estates versus a larger business like Cafe Britt.

North Central College AMA team scores school’s first top 10 placement at annual competition

North Central College’s American Marketing Association (AMA) team has achieved its first top 10 placement in an annual international competition.

North Central College’s American Marketing Association (AMA) team has achieved a top 10 placement in an annual international competition for the first time in school history.

The team placed in the top 10 of the 2013-2014 AMA Collegiate Case Competition sponsored by the Hershey Company, the AMA announced Jan. 21. Eighty-six schools entered this year’s competition for the opportunity to present at the AMA’s annual collegiate conference in New Orleans in April.

Sandra Pieta M ’11 is director of institutional research at Central Methodist University in Fayette, MO. She earned an M.B.A from North Central and an M.A. in economics from the University of Missouri in Columbia in 2013.

Joseph Gaza M ’12

Joseph Gaza M ’12 is director of baseball operations at The Warner Companies baseball agency. Previous to this position, he started his own baseball agency called AllStarInc Baseball. Gaza grew the firm and it merged with The Warner Companies baseball agency. He is certified by the Major League Baseball Players Association as a player agent. Gaza’s duties as a baseball agent include draft advisement, contract negotiations, arbitration representation, marketing and public relations services, sponsorship and endorsement negotiation.
