Trustee, benefactor Judy Stevenson was "one of a kind"

North Central Trustee was a caring mother, sucessful entrepreneur and business leader, a friend of the arts and a generous benefactor of North Central.

North Central College Life Trustee Judy Stevenson will be remembered for being a caring mother, a successful entrepreneur and business leader, a friend of the arts and a generous benefactor of North Central College and many other causes.

Stevenson died Monday, June 28, 2010, after a long battle with emphysema and related illnesses. She was a fifth-generation Napervillian.

Wendy Koenig, associate professor of art, acted as co-editor on an interdisciplinary anthology of essays titled Holocaust Persecution: Responses and Consequences. The book includes articles dealing with Arab and Muslim reactions to the Holocaust, collaboration in Bosnia and Ukraine, as well as legal, personal, moral and political consequences of the Holocaust.

Tamarra Love ’10, a studio art major and art history minor, was selected to display some of her ceramic sculptures at the DuPage Invitational Sculpture and 3-D Art show in Lombard. The event takes place Saturday, May 8, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., at Lilacia Park, as part of Lombard’s Lilac Time celebration.

The event is free and open to the public and takes place from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, May 8, at Lilacia Park, 150 S. Park Ave., Lombard. The park is located one block north of Maple Street and Park Avenue.

The Senior Art Show will be exhibited in the Oesterle Library Gallery, 320 E. School St., and the Meiley-Swallow Hall Gallery, 31 S. Ellsworth St., both in Naperville. Students will greet visitors during an opening reception from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, May 16, in both locations.

North Central College junior Timothy Whitney will present a series of digital photographs in a solo exhibit titled "Toes." His work explores the peculiarities of peoples' toes.

The free exhibit runs April 4 through May 6 at the College's Oesterle Library Gallery, 320 E. School St., Naperville. Whitney will greet visitors during a reception from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 7.

The work of James Henry Breasted, an 1890 alumnus of the College, is being honored with an exhibit at the Oriental Institute at the University of Chicago.
