Alumni Awards & Recognition
The Outstanding Alumni Award is presented annually to one or more alumni who graduated more than 15 years ago, who have excelled in their careers, and who have demonstrated service to the community and to North Central College.

Maria Wynne ’77 is CEO of Girl Scouts of Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana, the nation’s largest Girl Scout council. She was named Chicago Executive of the Year 2011 by the Public Relations Society of America and one of the “100 Women Making a Difference” by Today’s Chicago Woman Magazine. Read more. |

Priscilla Ferch ’80 Gallagher was named one of Illinois’ top women lawyers in intellectual property law by Leading Lawyer Magazine. The former chair of the Chicago chapter of the Licensing Executives Society, she is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Read more. |

Dr. Fred Janzen ’85 is a professor in the department of ecology, evolution and organismal biology at Iowa State University. He has authored more than 75 scientific publications and mentored 100 postdoctoral fellows, graduate students, undergraduate students, and K-12 students. Read more. |

Dr. Eric McLaren ’86 served for 13 years as principal and vice president for academic programs of the Illinois Math and Science Academy (IMSA). As a charter staff member of IMSA, he has held leadership roles in residential life, student leadership development and administration. Read more. |
The Alumni Recognition Award recognizes potential for success in a career, community service or support of North Central College by younger alumni within 15 years of graduation.

Matthew Brill ’97 is an equity and derivatives broker for Tourmaline Partners. He was an indiviual National Champion in cross country, member of three National Champion cross country and track & field teams and was inducted into the North Central College Athletics Hall of Fame in 2007. He also serves on the North Central College Board of Trustees. Read more. |

Dr. Wayne Duehn ’61 is a professor emeritus of social work at the University of Texas at Arlington School of Social Work and has witnessed for his life’s work for over 50 years. He recently developed a child abuse prevention program for the Department of Defense Dependents Schools, which has been implemented worldwide. He is also a co-founder of Praesidium, Inc., an abuse risk management firm. Read more. |
