Although Kurt Andrews wasn’t sure which track to choose – curriculum and instruction or leadership and administration (Type 75) – North Central's program and staff made the decision straightforward. "Because North Central offered elective courses that cover the other track, I decided to head toward the curriculum and instruction track and took elective courses that involved school management and operations. The graduate programs staff developed a great system to help teachers make the choice by giving effective and appropriate information." Kurt is currently teaching drivers education at Hinsdale Central High School while also coaching the varsity football and baseball teams. "Once I finish my degree I will be in the right position to be an effective classroom teacher by mastering the teaching strategies that coincide with effective teaching practices. North Central's program has helped me develop into a proactive educator and a leader that has a strong vision for high schools of the 21st century."

Now in her sixth year of teaching language arts to sixth graders in LaGrange, IL, Andrea  reflects fondly on the courses she took at North Central College toward her master of arts degree in education—specifically in educational leadership and administration—to earn her Type 75 certificate. “The education program has given me the confidence and knowledge to be an effective leader,” Andrea says, "It was a safe environment to practice my leadership skills and develop the leader within me during the courses. So when I was placed in a leadership role for the first time at work, it felt like something I had been doing forever." Making the choice to attend North Central was easy for Andrea. “My colleagues had so many wonderful and positive things to say about the program and the professors, so I knew North Central was the right fit for me.”
