Direct Enrollment - Fall Term
This comprehensive program in the historic land of the Incas gives students a blend of academic coursework, field studies, and hands-on development projects. Participants can wander the ancient cobblestone streets of Cusco, hike the Inca Train to Machu Picchu, engage in the colorful culture of the Sacred Valley, and explore Andean forests, lakes, and glaciers. Cusco provides a unique setting in which to observe largely unspoiled ancient customs practiced by communities outlying the city, while also providing a vibrant Latin American culture and modern amenities. Students can enroll in a full language immersion track or one in which both Spanish language courses and content courses in English can be taken. Content courses include Latin American politics, history, development studies, biodiversity, Latin American literature, and Peruvian culture. Students visit churches, museums, and archaeological sites, while also participating in local service learning projects aimed at understanding social and economic development.
